What are some CPAP travel tips?Updated a month ago
To keep your CPAP or BiPAP therapy on track during your travels, follow these tips:
Empty the Humidifier: If you're bringing your humidifier, make sure to remove the water from the chamber before packing it. Water left in the chamber can accidentally spill into your machine and cause damage.
Accompany Your CPAP Through Security: When going through airport security, agents usually need to inspect your CPAP separately. Stay with your equipment to ensure that all parts (cords, masks, chambers, filters) are safely returned to your bag.
Label as Medical Equipment: Make your journey smoother by tagging your CPAP bag as medical equipment. We offer a Medical Equipment Luggage Tag for convenience.
Carry a Medical Alert Card: It’s a good idea to keep a medical alert card in your wallet, informing emergency personnel about your obstructive sleep apnea. We also offer a Medical Alert Card.
Pack Your Power Cord: Double-check that your power cord is packed before you leave and before heading back home.
Know Your Power Needs: If you plan to use a battery, ensure you have all the necessary components. For international travel, remember to bring an adapter plug.
Bring Spare Parts and a Backup Mask: It’s helpful to pack spare parts and an extra mask in case anything gets misplaced while traveling.
